Find your first 20 prospects without spamming anyone

Getting clients5 minute readbeginner

Where to actually find people who might pay you, and how to contact them in a way that does not get you blocked.

Why 20, and why named

A named list of twenty specific prospects beats a vague plan to "market yourself". You cannot personalise a message to an audience — only to a business or a person.

Build the list

  • Write down the exact type of buyer: industry, size, and the problem they have
  • Find twenty of them using search, maps, local business groups or a marketplace listing page
  • For each one, note one specific, true observation: a page not updated since last year, a broken order form, unanswered reviews

Contact them properly

  • One message, one channel, no follow-up chains
  • Lead with the observation, not your life story
  • Offer one small, specific next step — not a call, not a contract
  • Keep it under 120 words
  • Say who you are and what you do in one line

Track it honestly

Record who you contacted, when, and what happened. After twenty contacts you have real data: reply rate, objections, and which kind of buyer responds. That data is worth more than any course.

The rule that keeps you out of trouble

If your message would annoy you to receive, do not send it. Twenty thoughtful messages outperform two hundred copied ones — and they do not get your account restricted.
